Jam may be one of the most truly underrated spreads out there. It is so versatile and can be used for so many things from spreading on bread to spicing up your morning oatmeal to making cookies and other baked goods. The only downside to jam is that is is PACKED with sugar and store bought jams are usually loaded with preservatives. This homemade jam recipe is not only super low in sugar (so much more real fruit flavor!!) but also has only two ingredients and is extremely easy to make. We all know homemade jam is far better than anything you buy in the store, so go make this recipe right now and thank me when your recipes are elevated to a whole other level. Another plus of homemade jam (that I find especially true if you use strawberries) is that it leaves a marvelous smell wafting throughout your entire house :). Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen fruit of choice (you can mix fruits if you like too)

  • 2 tbsp sticky sweetener of choice (I like to use maple syrup, but you could also use honey or agave nectar)

  • option zest of lemon

Method:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium to medium-low heat, pour in your fruit and sweetener.

  2. Let the fruit cook down, stirring occasionally, and mashing a up any big chunks of fruit.

  3. Simmer for about 30-45 minutes until thickened to your liking. Set aside to cool for to room temperature and then place in a jar and store in the fridge. Enjoy :)
